indieFilmFunding, a new crowdfunding platform aimed at filmmakers, has awarded thousands of dollars in prize money shortly after launching.

The website, which launched earlier this month, announced May 22 that Zachary Steinberg and Ian Fischer took home first and second place and the accompanying $5,000 and $1,000 prizes, respectively, in its video promo contest. Third-place finisher, Sam DeZeewu of Chicago, took home $500.

The films had to be between one-three minutes long and “directed towards viral promotional marketing of our website,” the company said.

“We were overwhelmed by all the amazingly talented filmmakers who submitted video for our promo contest. It was very hard to choose the best when they were all top notch,” Edward Panos, CEO of iFF, said in a statement.

IndieFilmFunding.com, which is based in Park City, Utah, takes an aggressive approach to promoting its projects, the company recently told Backstage.
